New show on Saturday entitled “Week In Review”. Don’t miss it!!
Quote of the Day
“We can’t solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” - Albert Einstein
elove’s note…
Hello World… Can I vent a little today? This CityBoyRadio.com and City Boy Clothing journey has really been eventful (is that a word?). Anyway, I have learned so much yall.. bad and good.
First lets talk about the radio show and the blog. I have been maintaining about 95% of the work throughout this whole process. Shout to the 5% who do get it in every now and then. But it is mostly me (which includes my other half). But I am not complaining because I haven’t worked this damn hard since my college days. No time, no rest, lots of work.. I love it! That’s when Eric is at his best, indeed. In doing this I have learned alot about what people want and what they are interested in. Drama, Music, and Gossip is what’s up in the blog world. I get so many pitches a week from outsiders requesting that I do a show on this and a show on that..most of which evolve around the 3 areas I just named. But here is the problem; Don’t we have a million blogs discussing those things already? Where is the substance and the diversity people!?! I’m sorry, I just cant force myself to do the drama based shows. Its not happening.
2nd - City Boy Clothing. I have been thinking about CBC for a LLLOONNGGGG time yall, for real. Now to see it actually start to flourish is amazing. I have gotten more done within the last year, than I did over the entire 4-5 year span that this idea has been on the table. Why? Because I learned to broaden my horizon and diversify. Would you believe that 75% of my support with CBC comes from international business partners. Everything from the printing of the tees to the sewing of the jeans to the stamps on the fitteds. Now why Love.. why you gotta go so far to get the help?? #1 they believe in the vision and #2 they are ready to work NOW!! They don’t say, “Let me get back to you, or I will have something for you by next month.” These cats was shipping me fabric and examples in 1-2 days..and that includes SHIPPING!!! But those of you who are within the area need weeks to complete projects. Unacceptable. I didn’t go to long distance support because it was cheaper, no,no, I did it for reliability.
The point I am making people is that we need to begin supporting independent businesses which shed light on the black community in positive and very informative ways, and we need to get back to the basics of business and raise the bar to our work ethic. Stop missing so many opportunities to do great things because you are close minded and lazy. I have pitched some of my best ideas to my closest friends, they just didn’t know how to move on it. Lets be visionaries and opportunist. And please support good shit which is not just limited to the bullshit that TV and Radio already feed you today.
and that’s my note……….
WTF?
This is what our kids are doing for fun nowadays…Violence is Golden in the Black Community. Who wants to make a difference?
Barack Obama Heckled by Protesters “What About The Black Community”
I told you the attack by the black community would begin closer to November, right? Aight. I have NO problem with the brothers expressing their dislike and concerns to these candidate who want to run this country. Here is the problem - would they have shown up at a Bush or McCain townhall meeting with the same agenda? Hell no. Its easier to attack your own.
Brett Favre Needs To Go Sit His A$$ down
Brett Favre has caused his team enough drama to throw any chances they may have had for the upcoming season. I’m sure you sports fans have heard all the talk about Mr. Favre being reinstated into the league. All that crying he did when announcing his retirement, and now he has cried his way back onto the football field. Today, Packers Coach Mike McCarthy announced that the team will part ways with the aging quarterback. So he has been granted the right to come back into the league, but he wont be in a Packer uniform. Whether he plays with the Packers this season or not, his distraction will definitely affect the teams chemistry as well as their play. Some people just have a problem letting go. Hangem’ up Brett!
Morning Soul: Whitney Houston - Where Do Broken Hearts Go
This song has been in my head all weekend, so I decided to share it with my family. Whitney Houston is absolutely beautiful in this video. Definitely a classic!! Enjoy.
Good Morning All ![]()
Big Boi of Outkast and Killer Mike Beefing?? Please No.
Now I’m a bit sadden by this one yall… Anyone from OutKast being involved in some beef is definitely a sad day in Hip Hop. I am a HUGE Kast fan so when I saw these series of videos, I was shocked. There is beef brewing between Big Boi and Killer Mike. A while back I saw some footage and heard rumors about Killer Mike talking reckless about Big Boi. But it was Killer Mike’s appearance on DJ Envy show last week that prompting the below response by Sir Luscious Left-foot:
This seems to be a bit out of character for Big Boi, so Im not sure what the underlying issue is here. Although, I tend to believe him when he says that he may have to put his foot up someone ass.
Now I was even more disappointed when Killer Mike’s video response hit the airwaves:
After listening to Killer Mike speaking in a couple interviews, I had begun to gain alot of respect for dude. He has always been a beast behind the microphone but has really been dropping alot of knowledge as of late…now this. I don’t know man, rappers….rappers…rappers. They always seem to disappoint. Killer Mike was an emotional wreck in this video, which further makes me believe what Big Boi said is true. Killer, you got to get your emotions on track and stop all that damn crying and whining..seriously. But honestly, that’s not even the point. As I said in the beginning, when any member of Outkast is involved in beef, its a sad day in hip hop. Its so easy to just walk away men. Everything does not have to escalate to an argument or debate, and definitely not a beef. You both are 30 plus…trust me, its O.K. to say I’m sorry and make up. Young men need to see more problem solving in Hip Hop, ya dig!
So here is a step into the right direction. Drop the nonsense and lets remember the better days-
Bill O’Reilly & Fox News Spread More Obama Hate
Anyone who mentions Obama’s name is obviously directly CONNECTED to him, right!?! Now he’s hanging out with Ludacris, next he will be at white lenin parties with Diddy
White folks are attempting to blow this thing out of proportion in their own little sneaky way. But whats new?
Obama Puts The Condemnation Down Once Again
Last week, Obama condemned yet another issue that shouldn’t even be an issue. Barack Obama has condemned the recently released song by Atlanta rapper Ludacris. Politics:Obama Is Here, which appears on Luda’s The Preview Mixtape, is stirring up a whirlwind in the Obama political arena. In the song Luda throws his ballet in the hat for Obama but he also spits venom at Hillary and McCain.
Regarding Hillary Clinton: “Hillary hated on you/So that Bitch is irrelevant.”
Regarding John McCain: “McCain don’t belong in any chair unless he’s paralyzed/ Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped/ Ball up all of his speeches and I throw ‘em like candy wrap.”
Of course, these lyrics were not well received by Obama’s camp, who released the following statement:
“As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to,” explained spokesman Bill Burton. “This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics.”
This is really beginning to get old. Barack Obama’s camp is condemning everything these days. Most of you bloggers are pissed at Luda for releasing this song. I AM NOT! My wife and I were riding last Saturday in ATL when DJ Drama first dropped the song on HOT 107.9. We were both bobbing to this joint.. HARD! I felt that Ludacris really went in on this one. But whether you like the song or not, why should you be mad at him?? Luda has the freedom of speech to say whatever he wants. He too has an opinion and should never be condemned for sharing. Barack Obama does not have to embrace the song, but he shouldn’t have to condemn it either. This was my problem with Obama from the start. It is no secret that I am a Obama supporter, but I have said from day one, that he has to reveal his backbone every now and then. Ludacris made a song and said what he said…so what! What is Obama to do, oust every black individual that mentions his name? He doesnt have any direct connection to Ludacris, besides the fact that they are both BLACK (which is the real issue). And then the black community gets mad, “Don’t say that, don’t do this.. you know he trying to run for president.” So everything else in the world must stop because Obama is running for president? Rev. Wright should shut up, Luda has to shut up, Bernie Mac cant tell jokes anymore,,, all negroes must go on the hush-hush until after November. Bulls%&t!! This aint the underground railroad. Those who stand for whatever they stand for and address the issues that affect them must continue to do their work and spread the gospel in the community as well. That’s all Ludacris was trying to do. Imagine if Tupac was still alive. He would really be going hard right now.
Not quite sure if I am doing a good job, but the point I am trying to make is this: Why must Obama have to condemn any and every other Black person who mentions his name in a light that may rub America the wrong way? The man cant control everyone’s voice or position on political issues. I mean damn… this man is being forced to do damage control all the way down to a rap song performed by Ludacris!! lol .. that’s crazy! Can Ludacris’ song affect voters and maybe sway their votes elsewhere. I doubt it. And if it indeed can turn some voters away, they were looking for a reason to be nonsupportive anyway.
And just think - Before all the hoopla, Obama reportedly stated that Ludacris’ music received heavy rotation in his iPOD. I bet he really bumping the hell out of this new track. Don’t be fooled, its the game of politics :) Obama feels the same as Luda (he just cant say so)..lol..For real, for real..
